The Society Is Founded
Katey Bacon establishes Between The Worlds in Metropolis with a founding cohort of four investigators, united by a commitment to rigorous, evidence-based paranormal research.
The EVP Classification System
BTW adopts the society's Class A/B/C EVP classification framework, which is subsequently adopted by investigative groups across North America.
The Evidence Vault
The society opens its digital Evidence Vault — a curated archive of documented anomalies, EVP recordings, and photographic evidence accessible to verified members.
The Field Notes Podcast
Between The Worlds launches its podcast, bringing case debriefs, methodology discussions, and investigator interviews to a growing audience of researchers and enthusiasts.
Present Day
The society now counts 4 active members, with ongoing investigations, a growing evidence archive, and an expanding program of public research.

I am Katy. I am the researcher and planner of the group. I enjoy the darker side of things, and the paranormal is at the top of my list. I have several certifications in all things paranormal, from Demonology to the science behind gathering evidence.

I am Chris. I am the equipment researcher/investigator. I have been into the paranormal since I was young, but I am an open-minded skeptic. I look forward to gathering evidence that things on the other side exist

I am John. I have been interested in the paranormal for as long as I can remember, starting with some strange experiences with ghosts and shadow people when I was a kid. I am a Pagan and spiritual, love photography and exploring cemeteries, and am the tech guy and photographer of the group

I am Kenny. I am one of the Field Operations and Equipment Set-up for the group. I enjoy the mystery and evidence gathering during our investigations. I want to find evidence of the afterlife, proof of other life forms, and anything in between. I am also very loud and passionate, so please don’t judge me if I scream!

How We Work
Investigative Methodology
Site Assessment
Before any investigation begins, we conduct a thorough historical and structural assessment of the location. We document known history, prior reports, and any environmental factors that may produce false positives.
Baseline Recording
All investigations begin with a full baseline sweep — EMF, temperature, audio, and visual — to establish normal environmental conditions. Anomalies are only significant when they deviate from this baseline.
Multi-Instrument Documentation
We deploy multiple independent instruments simultaneously. An anomaly must be captured by at least two independent devices to be considered for the evidence archive. Single-source captures are logged but not classified.
Blind Review
All evidence is reviewed by investigators who were not present during capture. This eliminates confirmation bias and ensures that classifications reflect the evidence itself, not the expectations of those who collected it.
Peer Evaluation
Class A evidence is submitted to our external peer review panel — independent specialists in acoustics, photography, and physics who evaluate materials without knowledge of the investigation context.
Archival & Publication
Verified evidence is archived with full metadata and made available to members. Case files are published with complete methodology notes so that findings can be independently assessed and replicated.
